Answer

inflammation of the knee joint is a "good thing" when there's been an acute quadriceps injury. It occurs when tissues are injured. Inflammated area have an increased amount of blood, protiens and chemicals. Inflammation helps to isolate the foreign substance from further contact with body tissues. After that, these chemicals attract white blood cells called phagocytes to "eat" microorganisms. Inflammation continues until the infection caused has been eradicated

Hope this helps!
