A possessive noun is formed by adding  and apostrophe ( ' ) and an -s to the ending of the noun that indicates the possessor, the owner. If the noun is plural and already ends in -s, only the apostrophe is necessary. Study the examples below:

- The boy's toy

- The boys' toys

Note: the possessive noun can also be used to indicate origin.
