Although Constantinople had influences from the Greeks and Romans, after the fall of the empire in 476, a lot of the buildings holding this Greek and Roman history and knowledge was destroyed. It is debatable, however, whether or not Ancient Greek or Roman culture truly ended in such an abrupt way.
