4. Suppose sin(A) = 0.422, where A is an angle in a triangle. (12 points)
One possibility for angle A is A = sin−1(0.422) ≈ 25◦

What is another possible value for A?
Explain why there are two possible values.

Answer :

Answer:

Because the sin function is positive in the first and second quadrants.

Step-by-step explanation:

We are told that sin(A) = 0.422

Thus;

A = sin^(-1) 0.422

A = 25°

Now,this is just for the first quadrant because this angle could very well be in another quadrant.

Usually in four quadrants of an x-y coordinate, the sin function is negative in the third and fourth quadrants because the x- values there are negative and sin is opposite/hypotenuse. That will lead to a negative value of Sin A since hypotenuse is always positive while the x-values in these quadrants are negative.

So, sin function is positive in the first and second quadrant.

In the first quadrant, it's 25°, however in the second quadrant where it is below the x-axis, the angle will now be: 180° - 25° = 155°
