We can't replace this action verb with a linking verb, as we can do in the other examples. We can only replace it with a synonym. As for other examples, you can always replace the verbs with "to be": The animal IS hungry. The trainer IS worried. The steak IS good. It's not like they actually do something. It's just what they are.
