If a species is introduced into a new environment with plentiful resources and few predators, it will get acclimatized to the environment and then grow with very little or no hindrance. The graph of its population will look like letter J and the pattern of grow is called exponential.

An exponential growth will be achieved by a population if:

  • Resources are unlimited: this will also eliminate competition
  • There is little or no predators in the environment
  • No recurrent natural disaster taking some members of the population resulting in a more death than birth rates.

Hence, with other things being equal, a species introduced into a new environment with few predators and unlimited resources will continue to grow unlimitedly after a few period of getting acclimatized to the environment.
