This would benefit the people because they would know how much they walked and set personal goals for themselves to beat every day. The pedometer wouldn't just record the distance walked but running as well which would also encourage people to run a certain amount in a day. This exercise would help prevent two types of diabetes which would be another benefit aside from the nice form and body you gain from working out.

According to the World Health Organization, a healthy adult should do at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic exercises OR 75 minutes of high-intensity aerobic exercises during the week. It is also possible to mix both intensities up to 300 minutes of moderate-intensity or 150 minutes of high-intensity exercises.

A few examples of moderate-intesity aerobic exercises are dancing, playing tennis, cycling, etc. High-intensity aerobic exercises are running, hiking, swimming, jumping rope, among others.
