What advantages did steamboat travel have over wagon and horse travel?

For one, steamboat travel was often more comfortable, as there was large amounts of room on the boat for its crew and/or passengers. In addition to this, many water ways connected to each other allowing for shorter travel time. In addition, horses and the people riding them could grow tired, whereas a steam engine never grows weary. And finally, one of the big key factors is a steamboat could generally carry much more people and cargo then an average wagon and horse.
