The diameter of a bacteria species A is 1 micrometre long while bacteria B is 1 x 10^-3 the size of bacteria species A.

a) What is the diameter of bacteria species B in metres?

b) Based on your answer in (a), is the value obtained less than, greater than or equal to 1 nanometre?​

Bacteria A has diameter size of 1 micrometer = 1 × 10⁻⁶ m

a) B is 1× 10⁻³ size of A:

  • 1 × 10⁻⁶ * 1 × 10⁻³ = 1 × 10⁻⁹ m

b) 1 nanometer = 1 × 10⁻⁹ m

  • And bacteria B diameter size is equal to 1 nanometer
