I learned this method to do this.
First let us assign a variable that equals 0.666666667. We will choose x. So x=0.666666667
Now multiply both sides of the equation by hundred. That will be 100x=66.6666667
Subtract 1 on the left side. 99x=66.666667. Now ignore the digits on the right side of the decimal point in the decimal number.
What I mean by this is think 99x=66. Now divide 66 by 99 and simplify the fraction to get 2/3. In the original decimal, which is 1.666666667, you can see that there is a 1 lying on the left of the decimal point so add 1 and 2/3 together to get 1 2/3 or 5/3. Hope that helps
