If you touch a hot object, e.g.stove, hot food, the nerves in your skin shoot a message of pain to your brain. The brain then sends a message back telling the muscles in your hand to pull away. Thus, the Brain and the nervous system function together by having the brain send messages via the spinal cord to peripheral nerves throughout the body that serve to control the muscles and internal organs. Also, the neurons in our brain communicate with each other by sending chemical and electrical signals, making this reaction possible.
