If the nth term of a sequence is given by the formula an=(n-1)(n+2), find the first 5 terms of the sequence

Answer :

lukyo
aₙ = (n – 1)(n + 2),       n = 1, 2, 3, ...

•   For n = 1:

a₁ = (1 – 1)(1 + 2)

a₁ = 0 · 3

a₁ = 0

________

•   For n = 2:

a₂ = (2 – 1)(2 + 2)

a₂ = 1 · 4

a₂ = 4

________

•   For n = 3:

a₃ = (3 – 1)(3 + 2)

a₃ = 2 · 5

a₃ = 10

________

•   For n = 4:

a₄ = (4 – 1)(4 + 2)

a₄ = 3 · 6

a₄ = 18

________

•   For n = 5:

a₅ = (5 – 1)(5 + 2)

a₅ = 4 · 7

a₅ = 28

So, the first five terms of the sequence are

(0,  4,  10,  18,  28)

I hope this helps.=)
