During the 1861, Texas, Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana, Florida, South Carolina, and Mississippi sent representatives to Montgomery, Albama, to attend a constitutional convention. In that convention they formed the Confederate States of Ameica and a Constitution was adopted. Jefferson Davis was named President and Montgomery became the first capital of the nation.
